Checking heat pump pressure and temperature

Measures interpreted for a proper diagnostic

Heat pumps require precise balancing of pressures and temperatures to function correctly. A manifold is used to measure these parameters, prevent anomalies, anticipate breakdowns and optimise system performance.

The latest generation of Sauermann manifolds has precise and ergonomic sensors for measuring pressure and temperature, facilitating a complete and efficient diagnosis of the circuit. Technicians can thus quickly identify anomalies, such as leaks or a drop in the efficiency of the heat pump.

Manifold: the core tool
Pressure and temperature measurements provide important information on the condition of the refrigeration circuit. They make it possible to check the functioning of the components and detect anomalies such as dirt or a refrigerant leak. The Sauermann Si-RM350 and Si-RM450 manifolds are compatible with all fluids (A1, A2L and A3) and have responsive and very accurate wired and wireless sensors. Their ease of use and eight integrated measurement programmes enable a reliable and rapid diagnosis to be made.

Pressure measurements
In a heat pump, it is vital to maintain the correct levels of suction pressure (low pressure) and discharge pressure (high pressure). Any excess or lack of fluid, the clogging of components or the overloading of circuits can throw the whole system out of balance. Si-RP4 pressure sensors are curved to facilitate their connection to all types of installation: air conditioning, refrigeration systems, heat pumps and reversible systems. They provide precise measurements to enable effective interventions.

Temperature measurements
Temperature measurements are added to pressure measurements to check for subcooling and superheating. Abnormal temperatures can be a sign of an inadequate amount of fluid, a defective regulator or system clogging. Sauermann temperature probes are equipped with an extremely sensitive NTC sensor. The Si-RT2 and Si-RT7 have a parrot beak design for optimal contact for a more reliable and faster measurement. The Velcro temperature probes can be adapted to larger diameter pipes.

Metrological requirements
The regulations for the verification of tools are very strict. Pressure gauges, thermometers, leak detectors, recovery stations and scales must be checked annually. Any incorrectly calibrated device can lead to errors in the interpretation of results. Sauermann technicians have state-of-the-art equipment to check and calibrate your devices. These services can be provided in our laboratories in Dordogne or Lyon, but also on site throughout the country, thanks to our team of travelling metrologists.
