Sauermann’s laboratories accredited to ISO 17025:2017: a rare advantage
Following an audit by COFRAC (the French Accreditation Committee) in January this year, Sauermann’s Montpon laboratories were once again accredited for temperature and hygrometry calibration services. Our spanish labs are also accredited to this standard by ENAC (the Spanish Accreditation Committee) concerning gaz analysis. The accreditation testifies that our laboratories have taken adequate steps to comply with the latest version of the international ISO/IEC 17025 standard, published in 2017.

What’s new in the 2017 version?

ISO/IEC 17025 is an international framework that enables testing and calibration laboratories to demonstrate that they operate competently. The rules are intended to harmonize laboratory methods and procedures to ensure that laboratories around the world generate fully comparable and valid results. 

The latest version, published in 2017, includes major changes that bring the standard more in line with ISO 9001:2015.

A beneficial standard for all our laboratories

In practical terms, the standard specifies in minute detail the metrology processes that laboratories should follow and the special measurement equipment they should use. In order for a laboratory to satisfy the requirements of ISO 17025:2017, technicians must follow a precise methodology. The good news is that, by adhering to these precise and stringent practices over time, our laboratory personnel become accustomed to working with rigour and develop specialised skills that they can apply to all their measurement activities. 

Aside from temperature and humidity, we are also enhancing our capabilities across a range of other services, from pressure and air flow and velocity, to gas analysis. Sauermann Ibérica’s gas analysis laboratories are also accredited to ISO 17025:2017, in this case by ENAC, Spain’s national accreditation body (the Spanish equivalent of COFRAC).
