Particle cleanliness of controlled atmosphere zones

Clean rooms are controlled environments where air quality is a critical parameter, regulated by the ISO 14644 standard. Controlling aeraulic parameters (pressure, velocity, flow) is essential to guarantee the cleanliness of these sensitive areas.

Whether for classification, regular checks, after a failure or a modification of the premises, a large number of measurements must be taken in clean rooms. For one-off and permanent checks, Sauermann has a lot of cutting-edge solutions for measuring air pressure, velocity and airflow.

PROTECTION AGAINST CONTAMINATION
In order to prevent the spread of particles between zones, air pressure control is essential. According to the recommendations of ISO 14644, the differential pressure must be greater than 15 Pa between two differently classified zones.
The tests to be carried out involve the use of micromanometers with a maximum permissible error (MPE) of ±2 Pa or ±0.5% of the measured value. The Kimo 210 and 310 series aeraulic devices are equipped with pressure modules that can achieve a level of precision of ±0.2% Vm ±0.8 Pa over the range -100 to +100 Pa.

FLOW EFFICIENCY
In laminar flow rooms, air speed is crucial for keeping the area clean. It is generally between 0.3 and 0.45 m/s for efficient particle sweeping. Tests using a hot-wire probe (SFC300 / SFC900) should be carried out at different points.
The ISO 14644 standard prescribes a minimum number of measuring points depending on the size of the measurement area. It is recommended that the various average time values be recorded. With their hot-wire probes, accessories and user-friendly menus, Kimo portable devices meet all the requirements for the tests to be carried out.

APPROPRIATE AIR RENEWAL
The air change rate is a key factor that is controlled by accurately measuring the air flow. This factor must be checked by an electronic flow meter such as a balometer, so that it can be easily adapted to all types of vent profiles.
With its five interchangeable hoods of different sizes, the DBM 620 from Sauermann is the ideal tool for carrying out complete surveys. Capable of directly calculating the air change rate, it also measures other important cleanroom parameters such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure.

METROLOGICAL FOLLOW-UP
The use of suitable, certified equipment is essential to guarantee the quality of the services provided in these demanding environments. Metrological traceability to national standards of the equipment used is therefore an essential guarantee of reliability.
The connected calibration certificates issued by Sauermann are drawn up in accordance with the FD X07-12 standard governing metrology for businesses. The certifications are carried out in our laboratories and assure users that their measurements are reliable, enabling them to carry out their work with complete confidence.
